FAQs
When is the best time to appointment a lighting designer?
There are two answers to this question:
The best time really is as soon as possible so that lighting can be considered as part of the architectural space and not an after thought much further down the road.
Anytime before First Fix stage where the electrical contractor start to map the cabling.
How much does the service cost?
Following an initial consultation a fee proposal will be sent to you for the design.
Do you supply the lighting?
We will provide you with a quote with customer discount. We will order and deliver the products to site and take care of any issues that arise liaising with the suppliers. This takes the time and stress away from the client so that any problems or queries we can manage.
What information do I provide?
We will require the project timescales, DWG files from your architect if you have them, PDF files from Interior designer and/or Kitchen designer, images and links to lighting ideas you like.
What happens if there are structural changes?
We can amend the design accordingly if further down the road a wall moves or you find there are constraints.
Will you liaise with the electrician?
We will attend a first fix meeting to discuss the design, installation details and timescales. we will liaise with the electrician as and when they require our support and documentation.
How long do the lights last?
Manufacturer warranties are generally 2-5 years. Lighting with integral LED will last for 10-20 years providing there is no hard wear failure and retro LED lamps are 15,000 hours which equates to 625 days of 24 hour continuous use.
Why chose an independent lighting designer over a free lighting manufacturer design service?
If you use a free service from a lighting manufacturer they will chose their lights and make them fit to your space rather than think about the space holistically and chose the suitable lit effect, suitable product, suitable finish with the clients needs in mind. You wont receive the same level of technical and onsite support. In addition you may be charged full RRP prices.
